Vecna Advocates for Touchless Check-Ins During COVID-19 Pandemic

Vecna Healthcare is pushing its Touchless Mobile Patient Check-in software in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The app-based solution allows patients to remotely register and check in for an appointment, and negates the need for any physical contact with on-site check-in equipment. It also minimizes the amount of contact patients have with clinical staff.

That makes the Vecna Mobile App safer than contact-based alternatives, which carry a higher risk of contagion. In the meantime, healthcare providers can use the app to distribute COVID-19 questionnaires to speed up the patient intake process. The app is compatible with many of the leading electronic medical records systems, including Meditech and Allscripts.

“Patients can update personal information and insurance, make payments, and receive cost estimates for their care – all from the safety of their own home,” said Vecna Sales and Marketing VP Doug Fallon. “This not only adds to patient peace of mind but also eliminates time staff spends on patient intake allowing them to instead focus on critical patient care.”

The Vecna Mobile App can leverage the biometric features on the user’s phone to verify the identity of a patient, and can send notifications to remind them of an appointment.

Vecna is not the only healthcare provider advocating for contactless patient services during the pandemic. ViTel Net has highlighted the utility of its various remote patient monitoring solutions, while BioIntelliSense noted that its own patient monitoring platform can be used to watch for common COVID-19 symptoms.

Vecna was originally planning to launch its Mobile App during the 2020 Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) conference in March, but that event was ultimately cancelled due to public health concerns. The company has nevertheless moved forward with the release of the app in the weeks since, and is now arguing that it can be particularly useful in the current healthcare environment.
